The Golden Globe yacht race 2018 now stands at 30 competitors who have given the A$3000 as entry fee. Like the original Sunday Times Golden Globe Race in 1968, the 2018 Golden Globe Race is very simple. Depart Falmouth, England on June 14 and sail solo, non-stop around the world via the five Great Capes, and return to Falmouth, which was the start line and finish line for the 1968-9 race.
The actual event was started with nine contestants in the original event, with Sir Robin Knox-Johnston as the only ‘player’ to finish the race, and becoming the 1st person to sail single-handed as well as non-stop across the world.
